It is with profound sorrow that we announce the passing of Marceline “Mitzi” Kavitsky, who departed this world on February 13, 2026, in the serene embrace of Summerlin, Nevada. A beacon of grace and intelligence, she was born on January 11, 1930, in Philadelphia, where her remarkable journey began.
Mitzi will forever be cherished as a devoted educator within the Philadelphia school district. Her exceptional ability to foster a love for learning has touched countless lives; she introduced the magic of television into the classroom, a feat both visionary and pioneering, marking her as a high-tech trailblazer in her era. Her selfless dedication to her students and the community solidified her role not just as a teacher, but as a pillar upon which many have built their lives.
Beyond her professional accomplishments, Mitzi epitomized elegance and charm with her fabulous presence. Always impeccably dressed and with her hair impeccably styled, she radiated a timeless class that captivated everyone around her. She possessed a zest for life that inspired those who were fortunate enough to know her, becoming not only a mentor to her students but an esteemed friend to many.
Family was the center of Mitzi’s universe. Her heart swelled with joy at the roles of mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, experiences she fully embraced and celebrated. Instead of embarking on a traditional retirement in Florida, she chose to relocate to the desert, seeking a deeper bond with her son and her daughter-in-law, Mindy, who was also her closest friend. This decision exemplified her unyielding commitment to family—a value she held above all else.
She is survived by her beloved sons, Charlie and Philip, along with their wives, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, all of whom cherished her love and guidance throughout their lives. They will forever carry in their hearts the legacy of her kindness, wisdom, and spirited personality.
Mitzi joins her late parents, Rosita Goldberg and Charles Goldsmith, in eternal rest.
A funeral service to honor the remarkable life of Marceline Kavitsky will take place on February 20, 2026, at Goldsteins' Rosenberg's Funeral Directors Suburban North in Southampton, PA, starting at 11:30 AM, followed by interment at Roosevelt Memorial Park in Trevose, PA, at 1:00 PM.
