Marceline “Mitzi” Kavitsky, a cherished educator and community pillar in the Philadelphia School District, passed away on February 13, 2026, in Summerlin, Nevada, at the remarkable age of 96. Born on January 11, 1930, in Philadelphia, Mitzi was a beloved teacher renowned for her selfless dedication to her students and a trailblazer who introduced television into the classroom, enriching the learning experience for countless young minds.
Throughout her illustrious career, Mitzi exhibited a passion for education that resonated profoundly within her community. Her approach to teaching media marked a significant evolution in educational practices, showcasing her visionary spirit that was ahead of her time. A memorable figure in her students' lives, she often emphasized the importance of staying current with technology, while nurturing a love for learning that inspired those around her.
Mitzi's remarkable personality was equally legendary. She was fabulous in every sense, always impeccably dressed, tailored to perfection, and never without her hair elegantly styled. Her timeless class and elegance shone through in every interaction, embodying poise and grace that touched everyone's hearts.
After a fulfilling career, Mitzi opted for a new adventure, she moved to Las Vegas to be closer to her son Charles and daughter-in-law, Mindy, her best friend, exemplifying her commitment to family. Her love for family was evident in every aspect of her life, and she remained a devoted mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, cherishing each moment spent with loved ones.
Mitzi is survived by her two sons, Charles (Mindy) and Philip (Elene), alongside her cherished grandchildren and great-grandchildren who will continue to carry her legacy forward. She was preceded in death by her beloved mother, Rosita Goldberg, and her father, Charles Goldsmith.
A funeral service honoring Mitzi’s life was held on February 20, 2026, and was laid to rest at Roosevelt Memorial Park in Trevose, PA. The Goldsteins’ Rosenberg’s Funeral Home is honored to be entrusted with the care and arrangements of Marceline.
