Marc Barrist, of Bala Cynwyd, passed away peacefully on May 6, 2026. He will be remembered as a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and friend whose warmth, humor, and enthusiasm touched everyone who knew him.
Marc was born on December 5, 1942, to David and Edith Barrist. He was the eldest child, followed two years later by his sister, Andrea.
After studying at Villanova University, Marc began a successful career in the life insurance industry. Early in that journey, his wife Lynn joined him at Barrist Insurance Group, and years later, their son David became part of the family business as well. Adam pursued his passion as a lawyer.
Marc married Lynn (Dash) in 1967, beginning a partnership that would span nearly six decades. Together they built a loving family and a life filled with travel, laughter, and shared experiences. Their sons, David and Adam, were born in 1969 and 1975, respectively, and family remained at the center of Marc’s life.
Marc pursued many passions throughout his life, including auto racing, painting, cooking, and supporting local youth sports. He was especially proud of his years leading Lower Merion Township’s Penn Valley Junior Sports Association, where he positively impacted countless young athletes and families.
Above all else, Marc treasured being a grandfather. His greatest joy came from the lives and accomplishments of Carly, Hope, Alex, and Dominique. Nearly every conversation began with one of his favorite phrases: “Did I tell you about what my grandchildren…”
Marc is survived by his beloved wife, Lynn (Dash) Barrist; his sons, David (Stefanie) and Adam (Leeann); his sister, Andrea; and his cherished grandchildren, Carly, Hope, Alex, and Dominique.
Contributions in Marc’s memory may be made to the charity of the donor’s choice.
