Manuel London

April 5, 1932 — April 26, 2026

"…Remember the past but do not dwell there,

face the future where all our hopes stand.”

Israel Kamakawiwo’ole

Words to live by and truly how Manny lived every day. A kind, compassionate, and fun-loving guy, Manny never knew a stranger and was always ready to get things done. Whether you called him Dad, Uncle Beard, Uncle Manners, Pop Pop, sweetheart, friend or rascal his quiet love snuck into your heart and made your day better.

Before spending his working life as a design engineer at Fischer & Porter Company, Manny grew up in Strawberry Mansion. Every Sunday, his mother would pack a couple of sandwiches and he and his father would dress in shirts and ties and walk 13 blocks to Shibe Park to see either a Phillies or A’s game.

“Just keep moving” he’d claim was his secret to longevity, but we all know it was his love for you and me that kept him going. Playing ball until he was 91, Manny’s dedication to senior softball was and will continue to be legendary. As a recreation leader at Fischer and Porter, he took a thousand people to Hawaii one summer, and hundreds more across the globe…and this was his hobby! He was the Master of Ceremonies at countless Fischer & Porter retirement events, softball picnics, and Passover and Rosh Hoshana celebrations at the house. Bringing people together was one of his special talents and gave him immense joy.

Manny was the son of David and Edith (nee Superfine) and devoted husband of 43 years to Jean (nee Seglem). Manny passed away after his beloved sisters, Laura and Yetta.

Loving father to daughter, Rochelle “Shelly” Creamer (Al) and son David (Valerie), he was the proud grandfather of Justin Pilgrim (Amy), David Doughton (Jennifer) and Scott Doughton (Tiffany) as well as great grandfather to Chase and Harper Doughton, and Mason Pilgrim.
