Lillian "Libby" Barsky Rankow

Libby Rankow passed away peacefully on May 18, 2023 at age 97 years.  Libby grew up in South Philadelphia with her parents, Harry and Jennie Berkowitz, and two sisters, Shirley and Ruth. She was the first in her family to attend college and she met her true love, Paul Barsky, on their daily commute by trolley car to the University of Pennsylvania. Following their college graduation and marriage, Libby worked as a teacher while Paul completed medical school and residency training. She and Paul had three children, of whom they were very proud. Libby later returned to graduate school, earned a Master's degree in counseling, and worked as an academic guidance counselor for 15 years.  Following retirement, Libby volunteered as a guide at the Museum of Modern Art in New York and the Barnes Museum in Philadelphia. She was an avid bridge player, reader, traveler, and opera fan. Libby’s greatest joy, however, was her family. She is survived by her children, Gail (Peter), Sheryl (David), and Robert (Nancy); grandchildren Matthew, Adam (Rachel), Andrew (Hannah), Jenna (Eric), Lauren (Brian), Devin, Cory, and Marina; and great-grandchildren Ethan, Landon, Andrew, Hudson, and Ryan.   Relatives and friends are invited to Graveside Services, Sunday, 12 Noon precisely at Mt. Sharon Cemetery (Sec. P), Springfield, PA.
