Leslie F. Welson

Passed away on February 10, 2024. Leslie was a graduate of University of Pennsylvania in 1958 (undergraduate) and a graduate of the Wharton School in 1960. After graduation, he entered into the first programming training course established by RCA. He then joined Philco/Ford and assisted in the development of the COBOL language. During his 35 year career information systems, Leslie moved from the technical side into management. Upon retirement, he devoted himself to volunteering at Holy Redeemer and St. Mary's Hospitals. Additionally, he became a Listener at Contact Greater Philadelphia, where he assisted callers who needed help resolving various problems. During this time, he was able to deter callers away from contemplating suicide and have local agencies provide assistance. After a short time, he became President of Contact Greater Philadelphia. Leslie was a devoted family man. Husband of more than 63 years to Ellen (nee Steinhouse). Father of Lisa Finkelstein and Tracey Welson-Rossman (Steven). Brother of Barbara Saul, also survived by 3 grandchildren and 1 great grandson. Relatives and friends are invited to Funeral Services Monday 4 PM precisely at Goldsteins' Rosenberg's Raphael Sacks Suburban North, 310 Second Street Pike, Southampton, PA 18966. Interment was private at Shalom Memorial Park. Shiva will be observed Monday only at the late residence.
