SHAPIRO
LEONARD, 80, passed away Fri. morning, April 20, 2007, at Mercy Medical Hospital in Redding, CA, with his wife, Debby, at his side. He was born May 12, 1926, in Phila., PA, where he lived for most of his life. Lenny attended Overbrook High School and the Philadelphia College of Pharmacy (now the Philadelphia University of the Sciences). A veteran of World War II, Lenny served in the U.S. Navy and was stationed in the Pacific as a radio man during the war. A longtime member of Beth El Congregation in Broomall, PA, Lenny owned Delen Pharmacy in West Phila. and the Penn Pines Pharmacy in Aldan. He and Debby loved to travel. Through the years, they traveled to Israel, England, Ireland, Scotland, Italy, Turkey, Greece and Japan, among other places. They particularly enjoyed visiting their son, Andrew, and his family where they live in Sydney, Australia. Lenny is survived by Debby, his basherta, wife of over fifty years; his son Jerry Shapiro and his wife, Shelagh Shapiro; his son, Andrew Shapiro and his wife, Hannah Fink Shapiro; his daughter Barbara Shapiro Zlotowski and her husband, Steve Zlotowski; 9 grand-children, Bennett, Connor and Aaron Shapiro; Anna, Lilah and Mina Shapiro; Jake, Eli and Abe Zlotowski. Relatives and friends are invited to Graveside Services, Tues., 11 A.M. at Haym Salomon Memorial Park, Frazer, PA. ( Sec. AC ). In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Lenny's name to the National Yiddish Book Center, 1021 West St., Amherst, MA 01002.
