Laurence Martin Sara, known as Larry, beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend, passed away peacefully at home on October 25, 2026, surrounded by his loving family. Born on August 24, 1948, in Philadelphia, Larry was the second born of Doris and Martin Sara.
Larry’s life was marked by devotion, both to his family and his work. He married the love of his life, Marsha Rae Bender, on March 11, 1971, and together they celebrated 55 years of marriage filled with love, laughter, and adventure. Their union was blessed with two children, Dana Kasner, married to Jeffrey, and Michael Sara, married to Jocelyn. Larry was also a proud grandfather to his beloved grandson, Zachary Kasner, who brought immense joy to his life. He is also survived by his siblings, Richard Sara and Andrea Hall.
A dedicated scholar, Larry graduated from Temple University in 1971. He embarked on a fulfilling career with the state of Pennsylvania, where he served as a case worker, supervisor, and statistician. In a remarkable mid-life career shift, Larry pursued his passion for numbers further and earned his CPA certification, demonstrating his unwavering commitment to personal growth and professional excellence.
Larry was a man of many interests and passions. From his teenage years, he embraced fitness, spending countless hours lifting weights and running long distances. His zest for life extended to the thrill of speed, whether it was riding motorcycles, driving his cherished C7 Red Corvette, or marveling at the elegance of trains. In his later years, Larry found solace and joy in nature, delighting in daily hikes and the simple beauty of woodland creatures.
Known for his loyalty, trustworthiness, and gentle spirit, Larry's kind heart and vibrant personality touched everyone he met. His dry sense of humor brought laughter and light to those around him, leaving an indelible mark on all who knew him.
A private ceremony will be held to honor Larry's life and legacy. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to the American Cancer Society, www.cancer.org in memory of Larry's enduring spirit and his battle with the disease.
Larry's life was a testament to love, laughter, and resilience. While he will be deeply missed, his legacy lives on in the hearts of his family, friends, and all those fortunate enough to have known him.
