Bensalem

It is difficult to conceive that it has been five years since we lost Larry Robert Baker of Bensalem, PA, whose blessed memory lives within the hearts of so many. Larry was born on September 16, 1956, the only child of the late Murray and Ruth Baker. He loved his parents and practiced the Fifth Commandment: "Honor your father and mother, so that your days may be long upon the land which the Lord your G-d gives you." Sadly, Larry's days were cut short, as he lost his courageous battle with pancreatic cancer on July 18, 2020 at the far too young age of 63.

Larry was raised in the Brentwood Park section of Somerton in Northeast Philadelphia. He possessed innumerable endearing qualities. At a very early age, he began collecting loyal, lifelong friends. Lots of loyal, lifelong friends. He knew all things Grand Funk Railroad, and old school professional wrestling and roller derby, and Phillies, and Eagles, and The Three Stooges.

He possessed remarkable intellect, combined with the sweetest touch of a gentle soul and a generous mischievous streak. He was a gifted athlete. He was the undeniable life of the party. Larry was an inveterate collector of esoterica. He amassed vintage rock concert posters, bobblehead figurines, sports memorabilia, seashells, and guitars. He loved the Jersey Shore and his time spent in Florida.

Everyone, from every walk of life, who met Larry wanted to be his friend; in fact, everyone who met Larry felt that he was their best friend. Larry could speak with anyone and make them feel as if they were the center of the universe. His warmth and concern still leave so many aching five years after his passing.

He attended Comly and Loesche Elementary Schools, George Washington High School, Beth Chaim Hebrew School and Temple University (Ambler Campus). At Washington, he formed the band "All Winter Long" and performed with them until he was no longer physically able. Larry joined his father's restaurant supply business, American Federal Wholesale Supply in Kensington, and worked in that field for decades.

More than anything, Larry loved his family. He simply adored his wife Myra. He cherished his children Melynda/Mac and Kimberly. And his world revolved around his being "Pop-Pop" to his beloved grandchildren Judah and Natalie.

Larry surely lived and loved life. COVID denied us the full opportunity to grieve yet celebrate Larry, still so impactful in the lives of so many, as he will be forever and ever.
