Joel H. Gottlieb, age 95, May 9, 2020. Beloved husband of 73 years of Shirley L. Gottlieb (nee Spiegel). Devoted father of Candee (Jeffrey) Brodsky and Marlyn (Lawrence) Stern. Loving Boppy (grandfather) of Wendy (Michael) Himmel, Lisa Brodsky (Ben Kyle), Lauren and Rachel Stern. Great-grandfather of Danielle, Laura, and Joshua Himmel, June and Rain Kyle. Big brother of Gladys Weisbord (the late Norman Weisbord), and brother-in-law of the late Bud and Beverly Dates. Uncle of Barry Weisbord, Ellen Weisbord (Andrew Fair), the late Harriet Weisbord, Adam (Chris) Dates, and Matthew (Christine) Dates. Joel was born and raised in Philadelphia, and lived his life in the area. He was a World War II Army Veteran of the Pacific Theater. He had a successful career in the paper and packaging industry, rising from salesman to president. In his retirement years, he was able to enjoy his love of sailing, tennis, cycling, and cards, spending time with his family in both Florida and Plymouth Meeting. Services and interment were private.
