Born in South Philadelphia, Mrs. Burcat was a graduate of Girls High and Temple University. Initially a social worker, she worked for the Israeli consulate in Philadelphia and El Al Airlines. Subsequently, she worked as a travel agent which enabled her to travel the world. She had devoted lifelong friends from South Philly. She enjoyed literature, poetry, and classical music. She was a lover of dogs, cats, and her children.

Loving mother of Joel Burcat (Gail) of Harrisburg, PA, Bruce Burcat (Detta) of Camden, DE, Peter Burcat (Suzanne) of Hockessen, DE, and Judi Kary (Bruce) of Souderton, PA. Dear sister of Edith Gollub. Loving grandmother of Dina Burcat, Shira Sarfati (David), Leah Burcat, Rick Burcat, Bryan Burcat, Steven Burcat, David Burcat, Justin Burcat, Wednesday Pupo, and Benjamin Kary.
