Jerome “Jerry” Gomberg, 90, of Newtown, PA, passed away on April 18, 2026 in his home in Newtown, PA surrounded by his children.
Jerry was born in Canarsie, Brooklyn, NY to Moishe and Dora Gomberg on August 13, 1935, the youngest of six. He graduated from Samuel J Tilden High School and served honorably in the US Army. He worked for Lafayette Radio for 25 years and spent the last 12 years of his life, working at Fred Beans Hyundai. Jerry was an avid baseball player and fan. He played softball and bowled well into his 70’s. He and his wife were ushers at the Walnut Street Theater for many years. Most of all, he was a dedicated husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, brother, uncle and friend who cherished life’s social interactions.
He is survived by his wife of nearly 68 years, Leah Sirota Gomberg, son and daughter-in-law Bruce Gomberg and Deborah Humiston, daughter and son-in-law Hannah and Raymond McGarry, grandchildren Jacob & Amanda Gomberg, Dane Gomberg & Amanda Parenteau, Asa Gomberg & Danny Moody, Elizabeth & Jeffrey Greenfield, Rebecca McGarry, Kate McGarry; great-grandchildren Nora Greenfield and Noah Gomberg. He is also survived by his step-family, Hannah Reed, Elisabeth & Chris Melnik, Grace Bailey, Nova & Seren Reed, CJ & Lachlan Melnik, and Fiona Tibetts.
Relatives and friends are invited to Funeral Services on Monday, April 20, 2026 at 9:30 AM, Goldsteins’ Rosenberg’s Suburban North, 310 2nd Street Pike, Southampton PA 18966. Burial will follow at Shalom Memorial Park. Memorial donations may be made to Walnut Street Theater, 825 Walnut Street, Philadelphia, PA 19107 or Chandler Hall Hospice Philanthropy Department, 99 Barclay Street, Newtown, PA 18940
