Jeanne Gelman, January 12, 2023. Beloved wife of the late Harry Gelman, beloved mother of Jack (Carol) Gelman, the late Bruce (Beatriz) Gelman and the late David (Michelle Gow) Gelman, beloved grandmother of Jack and Carol's children Kate Gelman, Allison Gelman, Charlie Gelman and Jayne Gelman, and Bruce's children Andrea (Dalton) Dominytus and Alex Gelman.
Jeanne was a Professor of Nursing at Widener University. She was born in Denver, Colorado, moved to Fort Dix, New Jersey and graduated valedictorian from high school. She moved on her own after high school to Philadelphia to pursue a career in nursing and met the love of her life, Harry. Jeanne and Harry had one of the great love stories of all time. Jeanne was an impassioned lifelong learner and educator, instilling that love of education in her children and grandchildren. She went on to receive her bachelor's degree in nursing from Villanova University, a master of arts from Villanova and a masters of science in nursing from University of Pennsylvania. She taught generations of nursing students at Widener University, retiring as a beloved professor. Her greatest pride was her grandchildren. Her greatest joy was traveling all over the world with Harry. She remained an avid reader until her very last day and loved discussing what she read with her children, grandchildren and friends.
Relatives and friends are invited to Funeral Services Sunday at 12 Noon precisely at Haym Salomon Memorial Park, 200 Moores Road, Malvern PA 19355.
Contributions in her memory can be made to: Widener University School of Nursing, "Founders Hall" One University Place, Chester, PA 19013. *Please direct donations to the Professor Jeanne Gelman Award*
