Jay Hambro passed on at age 91 on April 22, 2023. Beloved husband of wife Doris for almost 69 years. Their love for each other was extraordinary. While in the Army for two years and after getting engaged, they wrote love letters to each other, sometimes twice per day. Years later, they would read those letters on the anniversary of each day, 40, 50 years later, reliving the feelings they have for each other along with the family events of the day.
Jay was proud of his many accomplishments during his Aerospace career, most notably, the Ranger program of the 1960’s mapping the surface of the moon in order to determine the best landing sites for the “upcoming” Apollo program and numerous communications satellites during the development of GPS.
Pre-deceased by his parents Maurice and Mollie and brother Philip, Jay is survived by wife Doris, son Roger and wife Karen and son Glen; grandchildren David, Lisa, Mollie, Glenna and great-grandchildren Brayden, Marissa and a third on the way.
Relatives and friends are invited to a funeral service at Goldstein's Funeral Home Suburban North on Wednesday May 10 starting at 11:30am (may arrive before the service at 11:00am to pay respects to family.)
Contributions in his memory may be made to American Heart Association
