JAMES GOLDSMITH

on November 10, 2020. Devoted husband of Arlene (nee Bernstein); Loving father of Thomas (Alice) Goldsmith and Lee Goldsmith; Dear brother of Jane (Andrew) Pine; Adoring grandfather of Benjamin, Lauren and Daryn. Preceded in death by sister Margaret, son Matthew, and parents Claire and Myron Goldsmith. Beloved by family and friends for his unwavering sense of humor and his engaging positive spirit, Jim will be sorely missed all who knew him. Born in New York, he was a proud alumnus of Kansas State University (Biological Sciences) and later La Salle University (Master of Business Administration). During a long and successful sales career based in the Philadelphia area and then throughout his retirement years, James was a cherished and respected presence in The Chemical Club of Philadelphia and in the Miniature Figure Collectors of America -- two organizations for which he worked tirelessly and through which he forged lifelong friendships. He enjoyed a fine steak medium rare, a fresh Philly hoagie with fries on the side, and warm apple pie (always a la mode or with cheddar). A dedicated (albeit sometimes challenged) golfer himself, sports and especially football were a true passion an avid Eagles fan, James attended the Birds' historic Super Bowl LII victory in Minneapolis with his sons Tom and Lee and proudly described the experience as "the memory of a lifetime" in the celebratory aftermath. Above all, Jim's priority was family he loved and cared for his wife Arlene throughout countless ups and downs, did anything and everything that his children needed, and found unmatched happiness in spending time with his grandchildren. Relatives and friends are invited to Graveside Services, Thursday November 19, 1 PM precisely at Montefiore Cemetery (Sec Y), Jenkintown, PA. Contributions in his memory may be made to the American Diabetes Association at the following link: https://www.diabetes.org.
