ISRAEL JACK, 88 retired advertising executive, died Wednesday Nov. 27, 2002. Surviving are his wife of 59 years, Blanche; his son Richard, daughter Karen; brother Rueben of Van Nuys CA; and granddaughter Melanie Cooper. A resident of Glenside, he participated in many civic activities. Mr. Israel served on the Board of Directors of Kensington Hospital for 30 years and was president of the hospital for 6 years prior to retiring from the Board. After serving over 4 years in Army public relations during WWII, Mr. Israel accepted the position of sales promotion and advertising director of a leading department store in Baltimore. He left this position to establish and become a partner in the Barol & Israel Advertising Agency in Philadelphia. After 15 years with this advertising agency, he established the Jack Israel Advertising Agency also in Philadelphia which he headed for 20 years before retiring. Mr. Israel also owned and operated Gimbels Travel & Vacation Center and founded the International School of Travel in 1967. Mr. Israel was active with The Big Brothers Association and in 1958 received the `Man Of The Year Award` for his work with little brothers. He also served as arbitrator for the Better Business Bureau. Relatives and friends are invited to Graveside Services, Friday 11:30 A.M. Roosevelt Memorial Park (Sec. B14).
