ISRAEL MANDEL, 87, died peacefully in his sleep at home on July 4th, 2011. He was surrounded by his children and grandchildren. Izzy, as his friends and loved ones knew him, was a survivor of the Holocaust, Siberian labor camps, and years in hiding. He immigrated to the United States in 1950 with his beloved wife, Krisha. They were married for 53 years. Izzy loved America and said many times that he lived the "American Dream." He is survived by his children, Helen and David Braverman, Robert Mandel, and Eileen and Keith Hart, and grandchildren, Jessica Braverman and Jason Winig, Alix Braverman, Cory and Ethan Mandel, and Khloe Hart. A Graveside Service will be held on Tuesday, at 1 P.M., at Montefiore Cemetery, 600 Church Road, Jenkintown PA 19046. The family will be sitting Shiva at the home of Helen and David Braverman. Donations can be made in Izzy's memory to the United States Holocaust Museum or the National Museum of American Jewish History.
