Isabel Ulan
Isabel Ulan (nee Hicks) passed away on January 26, 2017. She was born in Philadelphia, but lived most of her life with her late husband, Sid Ulan, in Wallingford, Pennsylvania. She lived the last 10 years at the Maris Grove Retirement Community in Glen Mills, Pennsylvania
She worked on the staff of the Chester-Wallingford Chapter of the American Red Cross for 26 years before retiring in 1993. She received the Red Cross Tiffany Award for employee excellence that year. After her retirement, she became a faithful volunteer with that Chapter for 5 years. She was a member of the Board of Directors and Executive Committee for many years. Isabel received the Chapter's highest award, the Lucy G. Hathaway Award for Distinguished Service, in June 1998.
Isabel is a life member of Ohev Shalom Synagogue, and a member of the Jewish War Veterans Auxiliary Post 134.
She is predeceased by her sister Bernice, her husband of 56 years, Sidney Ulan, who died in 2007, and her daughter Dorrie, who died in 1981. She is survived by her daughter Beth Galperin and her husband Richard, her grandchildren Stacey Galperin, Joshua and his wife Sara and their twin children Aviva and Meyer.
Isabel will be remembered by family and friends as a woman who lived her life and loved her family in a gentle and quiet way. She was known by all for her great dignity and her friendships to all. Her bond with her daughter Beth was special as Beth cared for her lovingly for many years. At Maris Grove, she leaves many dear friends.

The funeral will be Monday, January 30, 2017, at 12:00 p.m. at Ohev Shalom Synagogue, 2 Chester Road, Wallingford, PA 19086. Shiva will be held at the home of Beth and Richard Galperin on Monday, January 30, at 7:00 p.m.
