Irwin Leonard, April 10, 2024. Devoted husband of the late Sheila Ross. (Nee Flugman). Loving father of Dr. Hal Bendit (Judy) and Richard Bendit (Heather).  Beloved brother of sister, Rita Corson and brother-in-law Bert Flugman. Cherished  Pop-pop of David Bendit  (Arielle), Steven Bendit (Sophia), Dylan Bendit and Morgan Bendit.  

Irv was a man of many passions, talents, and accomplishments. He was an avid pilot/flight instructor, a sailing and motorcycle enthusiast, and a champion marksman. A pioneer engineer in the radio and broadcast industry, Irv spent his distinguished 50-year career at WPVI TV Channel 6, leading the station through many innovations, including the transformation to digital broadcast format. He was inducted into the Broadcast Pioneers of Philadelphia Hall of Fame in 1995, the first engineer to receive this honor. He graduated Temple University with a degree in electrical engineering and the University of Pennsylvania Wharton School of Business with a Masters in Business Administration. In retirement, he became a Certified Financial Planner.

Relatives and friends are invited to graveside services Sunday 11 AM at Har Jehuda cemetery, 8400 Lansdowne Ave., Upper Darby, PA 19082. Immediately following services, a celebration of life will be held at Shannondell in Audobon, Pa. Contributions in his memory may be made to Main Line Reform Temple, https://mlrt.org
