IRV FRANKLIN

Dr. Irvin Franklin, beloved husband, father and grandfather passed away peacefully on March 28th, 2022, at the age of 77 due to complications with vascular dementia.



Irv is survived by his children, Jason (Rebecca) and Jamie; his grandchildren, Austin and Eli Coven and Ethan and Hallie Franklin; and his brother, Jerry Franklin. He was predeceased by his wife Jan Franklin; brother Sidney Franklin and parents Jack and Anna Franklin.



Irv was born in Philadelphia on April 21, 1944. After graduating from the Pennsylvania State University, he went on to earn his Medical Degree from Hahnemann University School of Medicine in 1971. He practiced general and vascular surgery in the Philadelphia area until his retirement from the specialty in 2001. From 2001 to 2017, he practiced occupational medicine, where he continued his profession helping others in the medical field.



Irv married the love of his life, Jan Sherman, on September 6, 1970. Together, they raised their children, Jamie and Jason in New Britain, PA where they lived for over 40 years. Irv was devoted to his family and friends and never dismissed an opportunity to lend a hand wherever he could. Over his life, he enjoyed the outdoors and was an avid golfer, tennis player and skier. He and Jan were able to travel the world together visiting places all over Europe, China and Australia after retiring from surgery. During the past few years he enjoyed going to his grandchildren's sporting events and sharing joyous occasions with family and friends. He touched the lives of many and will be deeply missed by all who knew him. A funeral service is scheduled for 9:30 a.m. on Thursday, March 31st at Goldsteins' Funeral Home at 310 Second Street Pike in Southampton, PA. After the interment at Whitemarsh Memorial Park in Ambler, PA, the family will be sitting Shiva at Jason and Rebecca's home in Bryn Mawr, PA through Sunday, April 3rd.



In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in honor of Irv to the ASPCA, remembering his and Jan's unconditional love for animals.
