Matzner, Irene "Philly" DELMAR Irene "Philly" Matzner, age 70, passed away suddenly on June 9, 2021, after medical complications at St. Peter's Hospital in Albany, N.Y. Irene was raised in the suburbs of Philidelphia and was the youngest child born to holocaust survivors, Otto and Harriet Metzner. After graduating from Germantown (Pennsylvania) High School in 1969, Irene made a living doing clerical and reception work for several companies including The Vanguard Group. Irene also spent much of her time volunteering for various charities. After the death of her parents, Irene moved to Delmar, N.Y. and became roommates with her best friend Robin Rothschild. The two remained soul sisters for 31 years. Irene loved to travel and meet new people. She enjoyed country music, Karaoke, seafood, Zumba, cycling, line dancing, cats and dogs. For the past decade, Irene was a staple at the Bethlehem YMCA where she was adored by both members and staff. She always offered words of encouragement and was proud of her fitness accomplishments. Irene is survived by her brother Steve and his family; as well as Robin and the entire Rothschild family. Irene is also survived by Pearson, the cat; and an entire community who will miss her warm smile. Irene will be buried next to her parents at a private family ceremony in Bryn Athyn, Pa.
