Ida Pauline Snyder of Malvern Ida Pauline Snyder, age 101, died peacefully in her sleep Sunday, Jan. 18, 2015. Born Sept. 15, 1913 in Cleveland, Ohio, Ida moved to Norristown in 1937 upon her marriage to the late Samuel G. Sandler and eventually settled in Lansdale, Pa. for the ensuing 40 years. Once her children entered school, she opened United Interiors, a paint, wallpaper, and fabric store and combined her interior decorating expertise to service customers in the surrounding communities. In 1983, she and her then husband, Louis Snyder sold the business and retired to Boca Raton, Fla. where she lived happily until Louis' death. After that, Ida returned to Malvern, Pa. to be near her children and grandchildren. In her 80's, she began organizing a program of continuing education for the senior population which soon became what is presently The Osher Lifelong Learning Institute of Widener University. She is survived by her daughters Joan Forman of Philadelphia, Marilyn Goldberg of Malvern, son-in-law, Dr. Victor Goldberg, grandchildren Sherri McMillian (Stephen) of Phoenixville and Karen Ackerman (Justin) of Pittsburgh and great-grandchildren Jonah and Rachel. Funeral services will be held on Thurs. Jan. 22 at 1 p.m. at Haym Salomon Memorial Park, Frazer. Shiva will be observed at the home of Marilyn and Victor Goldberg on Thursday only. On Friday, Jan. 23 from 2 to 5 p.m., Joan Forman will receive family and friends at her home. Contributions may be made to a charity of the donor's choice.
