Howard Switkay

Howard Warren Switkay passed away at home in Jenkintown, PA, on Tuesday, April 30, 2024. He was born in Philadelphia, PA on March 13, 1931 to parents Henry Switkay and Hilda (nee Weisman), and was a child of the Great Depression. His siblings Edward Levitt, Harvey Switkay, and Sandra Bichefsky predeceased him. He graduated from Central High School, Temple University, and Temple University School of Law. He married Sandra (nee Gordon) on March 22, 1959; she predeceased Howard in 2016. Their children are Hal (wife Yan) Switkay and Hope Bugay. Hope's children Sarah (husband Tyler and son Henry), Jacqueline, and Alex were dear to both Howard and Sandra. Howard's other great passion was his 59-year legal career with the Internal Revenue Service. He also taught for many years as adjunct faculty at Community College of Philadelphia.

Services will be private, and shiva will be held at the family residence. In lieu of flowers, the family asks you to donate to the American Red Cross, to which Howard donated countless pints of blood over the decades.
