Howard A. Finkelman, Esq. Passed away on October 28, 2024, at the age of 82. Howard was a graduate of Central High School, Temple University, and The Delaware Law School's (now Widener University Delaware Law School) first evening class commuting from Delaware County. He earned his Juris Doctor in 1978. Howard began his professional career as a stockbroker, having trained on Wall Street and at the Chicago Board of Options. Subsequent to that, while working as an associate for the late M. Mark Mendel, Howard met Harris T. Bock in 1979. Howard and Harris formed Bock and Finkelman, P.C. During his career, Howard built a law practice that helped clients ranging from family law matters to personal injury clients, estate planning, and small business counseling, as well as being a trial attorney. He was a law clerk for several judges while attending law school. He was fortunate and honored to have been able to appear before the United States Supreme Court. Ever the consummate general practitioner, clients relied on Howard to solve problems ranging far and wide, and it was Howard's tireless dedication to these clients at any time that earned him a tremendous reputation among clients, attorneys, and judges throughout the Philadelphia and suburban region. Everyone came before him, and nothing was too much to do for anyone. Howard eschewed retirement and continued to help clients to the very end.
Howard had several hobbies, including helping his wife with her miniatures, lathing and he had a passion for classic cars, which included participating in the Philadelphia Car Show, the world-famous Amelia Concours d'Elegance, as well as the short-lived Philadelphia Vintage Grand Prix-- where Howard had the privilege of to drive the great Mario Andretti through Fairmount Park ( and had to resist Mario's constant “encouragement” that Howard drive his vintage Jaguar faster and faster).
Howard is survived by his wife Nancy (nee Hirsh) of 57 years, their daughter Stacy Graboyes, and their son, Robert (Meryl) as well as his beloved grandchildren Alex Graboyes, Adam Graboyes, Madeline Finkelman, and Leah Finkelman, as well as his sisters Sheila De Annuntis and Arlene Shapiro. He was an exemplary husband, father, grandfather and will be sorely missed.
Graveside services will be held on Wednesday, October 30 at 11:00 A.M. at Haym Salomon Memorial Park, 200 Moores Rd., Frazer, PA 19355. Minyan will be held Wednesday at 7:30 P.M. at Temple Sholom, 55 Church Lane, Broomall, PA 19008.
