Honorable Alan Rubenstein

THE HONORABLE ALAN M. RUBENSTEIN passed away peacefully in the comfort of his home on August 22, 2025, at the age of 79. Alan was the beloved husband of Marilynn (nee Horwitz); Loving father of Samuel Rubenstein and Justin Rubenstein; Devoted grandfather of Lillian, Avery, Isaiah, Emily, and Elizabeth.

His life was one of purpose, conviction, and strength. He enjoyed a storied career of over 47 years as Assistant District Attorney, District Attorney, and Judge of the Court of Common Pleas; all in Bucks County. To those who knew him best, Alan was more than a judge or prosecutor—he was a man who believed deeply in doing what was right, even when it wasn’t easy. He carried that belief into every courtroom, every conversation, and every decision. While his career in law spanned decades, marked by landmark cases and a reputation for fairness, his legacy reaches far beyond the court room. Alan was a world-class professional boxing judge, licensed in Pennsylvania, New York, New Jersey, Connecticut, and Delaware. He was trusted to officiate over 700 professional bouts, including numerous iconic world championships. For this, he was voted as Philadelphia Boxing Judge of the Year for nine consecutive years and was inducted into the New Jersey Boxing Hall of Fame.

Alan was a storyteller with a penchant for history, politics, and boundless trivia facts. He was an avid Philadelphia sports fan, particularly the Phillies, and took great pride in his Philadelphia upbringing. Alan was known for his sharp wit, his love of spirited debate, and for the many deep and personal connections he created with others.

While Alan served a number of important roles throughout his life, none were more important to him than his roles of husband, father, and grandfather (“Pop”). He had a special and unique relationship with all five of his grandchildren, who he loved dearly. He cherished his 53-year marriage to the love of his life who he met one fateful day on a bus in Philadelphia, Marilynn; a bond that was indescribable. Alan’s spirit lives on in the lives he touched, the justice he pursued, and the family he cherished.

Services and Interment are Private. Contributions in his memory may be made to Shriner’s Hospital for Children, PO Box 947765, Atlanta, GA, 30394, www.shrinerschildren.org
