Herbert "Herb" Thomas Moskovitz, aged 75, passed away on May 6, 2022 in Philadelphia, a city he called home his entire life. He is survived by cousins on his Mother’s (Hoffman) side: Barry Yavitch (Palmdale, CA), Sally Bender (Newport Beach, Ca), Bernard Yavitch (Columbus, Oh) and Joseph Yavitch (San Diego, Ca) and their spouses, children, and grandchildren. Herb devoted his life to mentoring others and giving back to his community through his 42 years at the Philadelphia Recreation Department. He served as a Supervisor of the Holmesburg Recreation Center as well as the Webmaster, Photographer, Set Designer, Stage Lighting Designer, Stage Manager of Robin Hood Dell East, Newsletter Editor, Phred the Panda for the Recreation Department and was very involved with the City's Visual Arts and Performing Arts Programs. Herb designed scenery and lighting for various venues including Temple Opera Theatre, Ursinus College, Rutgers University, Abbey Stage Door, Huntingdon Valley Dinner Theater, Grand Opera Company, Berks Grand Opera, Avante Theater Company, Germantown Theater Guild. Herb studied at Carnegie Mellon (Pittsburg) and Temple University (Philadelphia) where he graduated with a BS in Theater. Graveside Services were held May 12, 2022 at Roosevelt Cemetery at 1:00 p.m. EDT.
