Helene (Henry) Margerum, 81, of Newtown, PA, on October 9, 2026. Brother of Steven J. (Carol) Henry of Chestnut Hill, MA and Rosalie Henry of Reno, Nevada. Aunt of Rabbi Suzanne (Marcus) Brody, Michelle (Gary) Bicket, and David (Elizabeth) Henry. Great Aunt of Meital, Hillel, Loris, Luna, Willow, Davey, and Katie.

Born in Philadelphia to the late Morris Godorov and Blanche (Miller) Godorov, Helene lost her father when she was two years old. Her mother later married Bernard Henry, who promptly adopted Helene. The young family lived in Northeast Philadelphia until Bernard established a real estate office in nearby Levittown, PA, to which they then moved.

Helene attended Temple University and graduated from Thomas Jefferson University with a degree in medical laboratory sciences. This led to a career in pharmaceutical chemistry and quality control with companies including GSK, Johnson & Johnson, Sanofi, Pathogenesis and others.

Helene greatly enjoyed music of many genres, and as an adult learned to play the flute. She had an extensive collection of instrumental and vocal recordings, soundtracks from Broadway shows, and pop concerts. Helene and her mother (Blanche Henry) regularly attended live shows in Philadelphia theaters. She had a particular affinity for Audrey Hepburn’s movies and recordings.

Helene enjoyed going to Friday services at the YMHA in Northeast Philadelphia. Then, during the pandemic, Helene became a regular on-line participant in services at Temple Emanuel in Newton, MA, and formed several long-distance friendships.

Helene’s family extends their gratitude to her wonderful caregivers at Holland Village
