Helene Kaplan

Helene “Henna” Kaplan (née Meshover) was born in East New York, Brooklyn on October 7, 1928.

Affectionately known as Henna, she was beloved by family, friends, and everyone whose path she crossed.

A petite woman with a huge personality, Henna was the life of the party. From organizing weekly rollerskating events well into her 80s, to dedicating her retirement years to volunteer work with children.

Henna unapologetically spoke her mind and always remained steadfast in her convictions.

She was a bold, fearless woman known for her sincerity and candor, or as Henna would say with a smile and a wink, “Don’t mess with me, I’m from Brooklyn!”

On February 24th, 2025, Henna passed away holding her daughter Robin’s hand.

She is now reunited with her loving husband, the late Dr. Edward Kaplan and their beloved Sheltie Kimy.

She is survived by her daughter Robin Furman, her grandson Eric Furman, and his wife Wendy Furman.

Funeral Services and Interment are private.

Please direct any donation made on Henna’s behalf to a local ASPCA, or rescue a dog from a shelter and give them the same love Henna gave us all.
