HARRY L., July 6, 2005, 79 years of age, a Center City Lawyer for more than 50 years, died of cancer at his home at the Hopkinson House where he resided for over 35 years. Born in NE Phila., he graduated from Northeast High School in 1943, upon graduation, he enlisted in the U.S. Navy for service during WW II and served until 1946. After the war, he attended Temple University where in 1950, he earned a bachelor degree and graduated from Temple University Law School in 1956. Mr. Kaufman joined the Phila. Law Firm of Goff and Rubin where he specialized in Bankruptcy Law. He was admitted to practice in The Superior and Supreme Courts of Penna. in 1958. After a number of years with Goff and Rubin, Mr. Kaufman opened his own office in Center City Phila. where he specialized in commercial and estate law until 2004. A member of The Phila. Bar Assoc. 'Harry' was highly respected by colleagues and judges for his ability to put forth his legal arguments with respect and professionalism. He will be remembered for his good humor, friendliness and a perpetual twinkle in his eyes. An avid salt water fisherman and amateur photographer, Mr. Kaufman, is survived by JoAnn Stetz, his life long companion; his brother Adolph Kaufman and sister-in-law Hannah; a nephew Henry C. Kaufman; nieces Dr. Susan Kaufman, Dr. Barbara Rosenbaum; and great nieces and nephews Rachel Virgilio, Brian Rosenbaum, Sean Rosenbaum and Daniel Rosenbaum. Memorial donations may be made in his name to The American Cancer Society of Phila. A future Memorial Service is planned.
