HARRIETT (nee Sonis) was born in 1925 in Boston and passed away on July 4th at the age of 88. Harriett was a long time resident of Elkins Park and taught for many years in the Upper Moreland School District, where she had a positive and inspiring impact on so many children. She had many varied interests, including gardening, raising orchids, and other indoor plants, playing the guitar, going to live jazz concerts, cooking and baking, literacy volunteer after retirement, exercising throughout the year by walking or swimming, visiting local parks, and many national park throughout the U.S., travel to many foreign countries, maintaining a healthy lifestyle, and being outdoors in nature.
She is survived by her beloved family: husband of 43 years Juan Gottschalk, daughter Paula Burk (Bob) and son Josh Gottlieb (Marcie), grandsons Jonah and Aaron, son Fred Gottlieb, nieces Tina, Debbie, Carol, Ronnie, Saunders, Carolyn, Leah, nephews Robbie, Pepe, and Mickey, sisters-in-law Barbara Polinksy and Lori Meyer, and cousin Rita. She is pre-deceased by her first husband Robert Gottlieb, sister Phyllis Miller, and brothers Ernie Saunders and Bert Sonis.
Relatives and friends are invited to funeral services Tuesday 10:30 A.M. at GOLDSTEINS' ROSENBERG'S RAPHAEL SACKS, 6410 N. Broad St., Philadelphia. Int. Montefiore Cem. Shiva will be observed at the home of Josh and Marcie Gottlieb. In lieu of flowers contributions in her memory may be made to The Nature Conservancy.
