Harold "Hal" Sirowitz

Harold “Hal” Sirowitz passed away on October 17, 2025, after a long, heroic battle with Parkinson’s Disease. An internationally known poet and former Poet Laureate of Queens, NY, Hal was the author of five books of poetry, including the much-loved Mother Said. He is survived by his wife, Minter Krotzer, his sister, Lauren (Herbie) Saltzman, his nephews Danny (Alyssa), David, Kevin (Joyce), and Jason (Dana), and niece, Stacey (Steven), and grand-nephews and niece, Ethan, Blake, Lexy, Ian, Mitchie, and Sydney. He is predeceased by his sister Iris (Harvey) Epstein, and parents, Milton and Estelle. A private funeral service will be held for the family on Sunday October 19th at Beth Moses Cemetery on Long Island. To read some of Hal's works, a link is available here. A celebration of Hal’s life and poetry is planned for the spring of 2025 in New York City.
