Harold Shorr

It is with great love and deep sadness that we announce the passing of Harold Shorr, who left us peacefully on August 27, 2025, at the age of 83. Harold is survived by his beloved sister Bette Tiger, his children Jill Clark and Scott Shorr, and his cherished grandchildren Jessica Shorr, Charles Clark, Sydney Shorr, Madeline Clark, and Sara Shorr. Harold was a devoted and loving husband to his late wife, Elaine, and a proud Pop-pop to his five beautiful grandchildren.

Harold was truly one of a kind — the kindest, wittiest, most thoughtful, and funniest man you could ever meet. He had an incredible ability to make people laugh, brighten any room, and make everyone feel welcome. He was the type of person who would do anything for anyone, always giving without expecting anything in return. Harold had a way of leaving a lasting impression on everyone he met, and his stories, jokes, and warm spirit will be remembered forever.

From a young age, Harold worked alongside his father at the men’s store Boyds, where he learned the value of hard work and connecting with people. As a young man, he pursued many passions — he attended beauty school, earned his hairstyling license, and spent time perfecting his craft. His love for food and cooking eventually led him to serve as a Cook in the U.S. Army during the 1970s, an experience that shaped his lifelong passion for preparing meals for family and friends.

Harold’s life was filled with meaningful experiences, laughter, and happiness. He was known for his quick wit and clever sense of humor, and his family lovingly referred to his unique jokes and sayings as “Haroldisms.” In his later years, Harold enjoyed relaxing with a glass of scotch and a cigar on his balcony, reading the newspaper, and appreciating life’s quiet moments. He had a deep love for music, especially the works of Ray Charles, Stevie Wonder, and Aretha Franklin. If a song reminded him of someone, Harold would stop whatever he was doing to call that person and hold the phone up to the speakers — no hello, just the music — letting the song speak for him.

Harold built a life rich with love, friendship, and laughter. He connected with countless people through his work at a popular cheese shop, Trader Joe’s, Sarah Cares, and more where he met wonderful friends and touched so many lives. But above all else, family was everything to him. He found his greatest joy in cooking for his loved ones, sharing stories, and creating lasting memories together.

Harold’s laugh, warmth, and generosity will be deeply missed, but his legacy will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved him.
