Grigoriy "Grisha" Farbman

Grigoriy "Grisha" Farbman on March 15, 2025.

Grigoriy was born in Polotsk, Belarus to Shmuil and Genya (nee Krasnik) Farbman, the youngest of three children. His early childhood was greatly affected by the horrors of WWII, which claimed the lives of his father Shmuil, and his older brother Moisei, both fallen in battle. Through the early years marred by loss, the aftermath of war, and rampant antisemitism, he worked hard to acquire skills and education, raised a family, and continued to look for ways to be impactful throughout his life.

An architect by training in his native Belarus, he emigrated to the US at the age of 58. He has never stopped learning new skills - from fine jewelry manufacturing to restoring antique clocks, elaborate picture frames, and furniture pieces. There wasn't a project he was intimidated by.

Grigoriy had shared over 61 years of marriage with Evelina Chernova and raised two sons, Yakov (Lana) Farbman and Rabbi Michael Farbman (Olga Markus). He was a proud and loving grandfather to Daniel, Samuel, Robert, and Sophia. He will be lovingly remembered by his niece Stella Litvak and by many extended family members and friends around the world.

Relatives and friends are invited to Graveside Services Tuesday, March 18, at 11:00 AM precisely at Shalom Memorial Park (Sec. Jacob II), 3573 Pine Road, Huntingdon Valley, PA 19006.
