Gordon Meyers, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and cherished member of the Elkins Park community, passed away peacefully on September 18, 2025, at the remarkable age of 98. Born on April 10, 1927, in the vibrant city of Philadelphia. Gordon lived a life rich in love, service and dedication, leaving an indelible mark on the hearts of all who knew him.

Gordon was a graduate of The Peddie School, where he was the captain of their swimming team. He continued swimming for Yale University, then left to enlist in the United States Navy during the summer of 1946. He received an honorable discharge at the end of the war, the American Theater Ribbon and the Victory Medal. Following his military service, Gordon graduated in 1949 with a degree in Industrial Engineering from Yale University. Shortly after, he met his lifelong partner and best friend Joan. Their extraordinary marriage spanned an incredible 73 years, a testament to love, companionship, and mutual respect. When asked about the secrets to their enduring union, Gordon would smile and respond with a simple, yet profound “Yes, dear”. He was a man of unwavering love for his family and reveled in the company of his children: Doug Meyers, Ginny (Dennis) Lehman and Lynne (Bruce) Goldstein. His legacy continues through his beloved grandchildren: Denny (Sherry Lin) Lehman, Drew Lehman, David Lehman, Carly Goldstein (Fred) Katz, Jordan Goldstein, Jake Meyers and Brandon Meyers.

Gordon loved art, especially outsider art and was an accomplished metal and clay sculptor. He was the king of Dad jokes, bad puns and funny hats. He was an avid skier, walker, tennis player and golfer. Gordon was an entrepreneur and inventor, obtaining 7 textile patents. He ran the family textile yarn business for nearly 60 years along with his predeceased brother Jim. He was highly devoted to giving back, particularly through his international project YaleGale, Yale Day of Service, as well as being on the Yale Board of Governors. As a big brother with the Big Brothers, Big Sisters of America, he was like a father to his little brother for over 30 years. His latest passion in his 80’s and 90’s was mentoring disadvantaged youth that were First Generation and Pell Grant College students.

Gordon Meyers, a gentle soul and a loving heart, will be deeply missed. His legacy of kindness, service and love will live on in all of us.

Per Gordon’s request, graveside services were private and held September 18, 2025, accompanied by the renderance of full military honors. Memorial contributions may be made in his memory to Big Brothers, Big Sisters of Philadelphia, College Now of Cleveland or a charity of your choice,

The Goldstein’s Rosenberg’s Funeral Home is honored to be entrusted with the care and arrangements for Gordon. May his memory be a blessing to all who knew him.
