Gordon Edward Meyers, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and cherished member of the Elkins Park community, passed away peacefully on September 18, 2025, at the remarkable age of 98. Born on April 10, 1927, in the vibrant city of Philadelphia, Gordon lived a life rich in love, service, and dedication, leaving an indelible mark on the hearts of all who knew him.

Gordon proudly served our nation in the United States Navy during the summer of 1946, receiving an honorable discharge that fall. His commitment to service earned him the American Theater Ribbon and the Victory Medal—symbols of his steadfast dedication to the ideals of freedom and democracy. Following his military service, he achieved a Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering from Yale University, where he met his lifelong partner and best friend, Virginia. Their extraordinary marriage spanned an incredible 73 years, a testament to love, companionship, and mutual respect. When asked about the secrets to their enduring union, Gordon would smile and respond with a simple, yet profound, “Yes, dear.” A proud American and a pillar of the community, Gordon was known not only for his career as a successful business owner in the textile industry but also as a man of unwavering love for his family. He reveled in the joys of life, especially in the company of his children: his daughters, Ginny Lehman and Lynne Goldstein, his son Doug Meyers, and their respective spouses, Dennis Lehman and Bruce Goldstein, who he welcomed into the family with open arms. His legacy continues through his beloved grandchildren: Carly Goldstein, Jacob Meyers, Brandon Meyers, Jordan Goldstein, Denny Lehman, Drew Lehman, and David Lehman—each of whom held a special place in his heart.

In addition to his family, Gordon was also known for his eclectic collection of hats, each piece telling a story of its own. Whether at family gatherings or community events, Gordon wore his hats with pride, collecting moments and memories that will now be cherished by all who loved him.

Gordon Edward Meyers, a gentle soul and a loving heart, will be deeply missed—and his legacy of kindness, service, and love will live on in all of us. Though he has left this earthly realm, his spirit will forever remain in the hearts of those he touched.

Funeral services, per Gordons request, will be private. Full military honors will be rendered at graveside. Memorial contributions may be made, in his memory, to a charity of your choice.

The Goldsteins' Rosenberg's Funeral Home is honored to be entrusted with the care and arrangements for Gordon. May his memory be a blessing to all who knew him.
