Gloria Nathan

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Gloria Braunstein Nathan, a cherished mother, wife, grandmother, and great-grandmother, on April 9, 2025, at the age of 96. Born on July 7, 1928, she was a source of comfort and everlasting joy for her friends, family, and community. Gloria had a wonderful life in Philadelphia. She was an only child of parents Reba and Max Braunstein, both of whom passed in the same week as Gloria, in different years. When Reba passed, Gloria was a teenager and she and her father were taken in by relatives. Following high school, she met Larry Nathan who she married, and together, raised a family. Gloria and Larry were married for 57 years. Upon Larry’s discharge from the Korean War, they bought a house in Mt. Airy. Max, Gloria’s father, came to help them paint cabinets. Max never left and was keenly instrumental in helping raise Gloria and Larry’s three sons Robert (Bob), Eric (Rick), and Glen. The family grew and flourished in the tight-knit community that was East Mt. Airy in the 1950’s & 60’s, later moving to Huntington Valley. Max and Larry passed away in 1991 and 2017, respectively. Gloria kept close relationships with her ever-growing family, consistently checking in, staying up-to-date on their lives, and developing meaningful relationships with everyone.

She is survived by her three sons: Robert, wife Cathy; Eric, Jane; Glen, Melissa; eight grandchildren: Alicia/Jared, Ben/Leah, Lucas/Erika, Chloe/Wesley, Miles/Jessie, Arielle/Mike, Kevin, and Annie; 11 great-grandchildren: Eliza, Harris, Lillian, Brooke, Jake, Grace, Raphael, Esmé, Devon, Harper and Logan. The iconic “Glo Gal” never missed a birthday or milestone in the family. She was immensely loved, devoting herself to learning peoples’ passions and interests, and fostering meaningful connections that made her a bright star to all who knew her. Gloria lived an unforgettably long, adventurous and happy life of love and gratitude. May she always and forever be in our hearts.

Relatives and friends are invited to her Graveside Service Friday 10 A.M. precisely at Shalom Memorial Park, 3573 Pine Road Huntingdon Valley, PA 19006. Interment to immediately follow.
