Gloria Caplan

Loving wife, mother, and grandmother Gloria Caplan (Leiken), 84, of Brigantine, New Jersey, passed away on January 14, 2025. She was married to her husband Dave for 64 years.

Gloria was born in Philadelphia and raised in Atlantic City by her parents, Ben and Rose Leiken. A loving older sister to Jeanie and an attentive daughter, she rode her bike everywhere. Gloria and Dave met on the boardwalk in Atlantic City - she was embroidering hats, and he was working at a sandwich shop. They married and raised their number-one-son, Jonathan, in Willingboro, New Jersey. Gloria had many jobs, ultimately finding fulfillment in her career as a travel agent. She proudly recounted her travel adventures and misadventures.

Gloria was a beloved and constant presence in the lives of her grandchildren. She was the heart of many summer days spent down the shore, where she was a fixture for friends and family. Gloria loved to play the slots, sit by the pool, borrow thrillers from the library, and complain about the Eagles and the Phillies.

Gloria is survived by her husband Dave, her son and daughter-in-law Jonathan and Jody of Short Hills, New Jersey, and grandchildren Aliza, Benjamin and Sophie.
