Gertrude Sliwowicz (also known as Golda) was born on April 7,1927 in Antwerp, Belgium,
She passed away unexpectedly in her sleep on Jan 24, 2026 at Luther Woods Rehab and Nursing Home at age 98.
She was married to her late beloved husband Morris Sliwowicz on January 11, 1958 in Toronto, Canada. They immigrated to the USA shortly thereafter finally settling in Philadelphia, Pa..
She was the loving sister of Mariette of Belgium, Estella (z”l) of Israel David (z”l) of Germany. Her father was Simon Eisen. Her mother's maiden name was Fanny Czeschlak.
She was the dear aunt of fourteen (14) nieces and nephews located in the U.S., Canada, Israel, and Europe.
Gertrude was very active in a number of Jewish organizations including the Jewish Federation, the Klein branch of JCC, and especially and most importantly the Association of Jewish Holocaust Survivors. She was a very social person who rarely missed a function and event. Her husband and her traveled to many events and gatherings. Except for her family, her life experience (like many who will be attending) was significantly defined by the Holocaust which she experienced during her teen years. So her bond with the Association and those families impacted was strong. It is a bond that only those who experienced and endured the reality of the Holocaust could fully relate and empathize. For this bond, her friendship and support they brought her we thank you. For all other friends, associates, and resided in her neighborhood/apartment building; her sudden and unexpected death has left a void in their hearts. She was well-liked (even recognized on occasion) by all those with whom she associated and she felt honored to have such connections. She will passionately and earnestly remembered, intensely missed, and continuously loved.

FORWARDING: We have tried to contact as many individuals using a variety of resources. It became somewhat complex because it involved USA, Canadian, European and Israeli family members and friends. If you read this invitation we ask that you forward it to someone you feel should be notified OR you may contact Goldstein’s with the name and email address and they will forward the link to them. We make this request as an extra step.
We have probably missed something or will need adjustments as we experience the process so we suggest checking the website for updates. We apologize if this occurs. Although it will still be available on the website afterward and for recording (90 days max), most want to see it live and we only get one chance at accomplishing it.
