Gerry Kean, a devoted and beloved son of Philadelphia, passed away peacefully on May 27, 2026, in Audubon, PA, leaving behind a legacy rich with loyalty, generosity, and an unyielding passion for the things he loved. Born on April 8, 1943, in Philadelphia, Gerry's life was a tapestry woven with vibrant memories, unshakeable integrity, and a profound commitment to his family and community.
A proud graduate of the 215th Class of Central High School, Gerry pursued higher education earning a bachelor's degree from Temple University. and completing graduate work at St. Joseph’s University, reflecting his sharp intellect and unrelenting curiosity. After college, he began his career at Schmidt's Brewery, rising to the director of quality control, followed by a long and accomplished career in the salad dressing and oils business, as director of quality assurance for a nationwide manufacturer, and working closely on Kashrut compliance with the rabbis at the Orthodox Union. Yet, beyond his academic and professional achievements, Gerry defined himself through the kindness he extended to others and the steadfast friendships he nurtured throughout his life.

Sports were a joyful thread connecting him to his loved ones, enriching countless family moments.
His interests were diverse and deep. Gerry was an avid reader and lover of history, always eager to explore the past and understand the stories that shaped the world. He was also an excellent bowler and found delight in going to concerts with his family—ranging from classical orchestras to rock bands—experiencing the full spectrum of music together. These moments of shared joy were emblematic of the warmth and inclusivity that defined him.
Gerry’s personality was a beacon of light to all who knew him. Loyal and devoted, he was always ready, willing, and able to help others.
