MITTLER
GERALD "JERRY" LAWRENCE, 75, of Charlotte NC died Wednesday, June 4, 2003 at home. Born November 18, 1927, in Brooklyn NY, the only son of S. Edward and Ann Epstein Mittler. He was raised in Philadelphia PA, where he graduated from Temple University then joined the US Navy (Lt. JG) during the Korean Conflict. When in the Navy he was stationed for a time in the Bahamas. This began a beautiful love affair with Jerry and the Islands. He went on to an illustrious career in wholesale jewelry sales and traveled the world. Jerry never met a stranger and loved exploring new business challenges. He moved to North Miami Beach FL in 1975 then to Charlotte NC in 1998.
Jerry is survived by his wife of 48 years, Shirley Pearlman Mittler; children, Abbe Mittler Bryan, Michael Mittler and Michele Mittler; son-in-law, Lawson Bryan; grandchildren, Sara Bryan, James Bryan and Dawson Black; and sister, Doris Mittler Goldman; as well as many more family and friends who he tried to feed.
Funeral Services will be held at Montefiore Cemetery in Philadelphia PA, on Sunday, June 8, 2003, at 10 A.M. The family will receive friends Sunday after the Service at the Pearlman home in Philadelphia PA and in Charlotte NC at the Bryan home, Monday and Tuesday evenings, June 9th and 10th at 7:30 PM. HARRY AND BRYANT COMPANY, Charlotte, NC and GOLDSTEINS' ROSENBERG'S RAPHAEL SACKS, Phila. PA, will be serving the family.
