SHABER, MD

GARY S., Compassionate physician, fascinated arts lover and world traveler, Gary Shaber, MD was exceptionally creative with his hands. He built sets for Cleveland's Cain Park Theater as a youth, and reconstructed antique sports cars, music boxes, vintage pinball machines and model airplanes throughout his life-time. As a frustrated architect, he erected precise scale models of his homes out of balsawood, and would critically study the construction of skyscrapers in Philadelphia. He was a celebrated and highly respected radiologist at Thomas Jefferson University Hospital. But he was most passionate about being the beloved husband and soulmate of the late Sandra Shaber, father of Ruth Shaber and the late Steven Shaber, father-in-law of Lisa Shaber, grandfather of Allison and Hannah Shaber and Madeline Hung, and uncle of Samantha and Remy Shaber.
A towering patriarch at 6' 6", Gary was an avid tracker of family history and infused every gathering with his joyfully sardonic laugh, bringing smiles to all around him. He passed away on July 13, 2015 at the age of 81.
Family and friends are invited to join a Memorial Service at Le Meridien, 1421 Arch Street, Philadelphia, on July 18th at 2:00 P.M. He will be sorely missed by all who knew him.
