Gary R. Hess

Gary Hess passed away on Tuesday, June 13, 2023, with his wife Janet by his side.

Gary Hess was a caring, wonderful father and grandfather. He was a devoted husband of 63 years, having met his wife Janet at Camp Canadensis in the Poconos, where they became inseparable. After earning an associates degree from Nichols College, he served as a flight engineer in the Naval Reserves patrolling the airways over the Cuban missile crisis. He spent many years as a businessman from which Gary only recently retired. He was an avid reader of science fiction and history. He loved to keep up with current events and learning new skills. You could often find him sharing a story over a good meal with loved ones.

Husband of Janet L. (nee Schrage). Father of Evelyn Hess Tu (Alan Tu) and Ronald (Jessica) Hess. Brother of the late Bruce Hess. Grandfather of Alexander Hess, Gillian Hess-Caple (Greg) and Benjamin Hess. Uncle of Ilene Smith, Daneyelle Jordan, Nicolle Schrage Gorman and Michael Schrage.
