(nee Dashkow) 93, passed away peacefully at Neshaminy Manor on March 2, 2020. She was born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania on November 4, 1926 to the late Samuel Dashkow and Mamie (Brown) Dashkow. Fran began working in many different factories during World War II to help her family and eventually went to beauty school and became a beautician. In 1948 she married Paul Smaglio. They started their family in South Philadelphia and moved to Northeast Philadelphia in 1956. Fran worked at Lord & Taylor and Phoenix Salon as a manicurist while raising her children until retiring at the age of 73. Fran showed great skill with her hands and also enjoyed painting and drawing. She played the piano, loved music, dancing and going to the theater. She delighted in being with her lady friends and playing a game of mahjong or cards. Fran is survived by her sister, Mildred Dinerman, her children Joyce Goldstein, Wayne Smaglio and his wife Deborah, and Barbara Crumbock and her husband Frank; Her grandchildren, Jason Kiesling and his wife Kathy, Jaclyn Gormish and her husband Chris, Shara Hughes and her husband Adam, Josh Goldstein, Steven Smaglio and his wife Christy, Morgan Reichle and her husband Jeff, and Matthew Smaglio; great grandchildren Nicholas, Gianna, Amber, Jada, Gannon, Rowen, Luke and Graham; and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her brother, Jack Dashkow. Funeral services will be held at 9:15 am on Thursday, March 5th at the Goldsteins Funeral Home, 310 2nd Street Pike, South Hampton, PA 18966. Interment will be at Shalom Memorial Park 3273 Pine Rd. Huntington, PA 19006. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Fran's memory, to a charity of donor's choice.
