It is with a heavy heart that we announce the passing of Eugene (Gene) S. Marks, a cherished father, grandfather, fiancé, and friend. Gene departed peacefully on March 30, 2024, at his residence, with his beloved fiancé, Hedy Kling, by his side. Born in New York City on December 3, 1941, to the late Joseph and Molly, Gene's journey began in a world much different from today, yet his impact bridged generations. In the early '70s, Gene moved his family to Bucks County, PA, starting a new chapter.
He leaves behind a legacy through his children, Jonathan, Michael, and Stephanie, and his love, Hedy, alongside his ailing sister, Linda Berman, in New York and Seven grandchildren, Matthew, Daniel, Tyler, Meghan, Jamie, Kyle, and Ryan.
A proud alumnus of Stuyvesant High School and the Baruch School of Business, Gene’s intellect and dedication led him to become a certified public accountant (CPA), eventually embarking on a career that spanned public accounting, corporate leadership roles, and a significant tenure with the Internal Revenue Service until his retirement circa 2015.
Gene was a man of many passions, including baseball, reading, sushi, the film "Zulu," and travel. Above all, his family remained his greatest love, alongside his cherished role as the family's humorist, always keen to share a laugh.
His passing reunites him with his adored wife of over 50 years, Nancy J. Marks, who preceded him in 2016. The void left by his departure is palpable, and he is mourned by a host of family, friends, and all who were fortunate to know him. We extend our heartfelt gratitude for the outpouring of love, support, and condolences we've received. Your kindness during this difficult time is a testament to Gene's enduring impact on our lives.
To celebrate Gene's life and legacy, a funeral service will be held on April 3, 2024, at 2:45 pm at Goldstein’s, located at 310 Second Street Pike, Southampton, PA 18966. Before this (emphasis added), a graveside burial for close family and friends will commence at 1:30 pm at King David Cemetery - Memorial Park - Section I, in Bensalem, PA.
For those wishing to join us in sitting Shiva, it will be observed for one day only at Nancy Savadove’s home.
In Gene's memory, let us come together to honor a life well-lived, full of love, laughter, and an unwavering commitment to family. Donations in his memory can be made to the Cancer Support Community of Greater Philadelphia, located at 200 Kirk Road, Warminster, PA. 18974.
With all our love, Jonathan (Leah), Michael (Barb), Stephanie, and Hedy
