STEIN
DR. EMANUEL STEIN, age 91, a retired Podiatrist and an Army veteran of World War II, formerly from Pittsburgh, PA, passed away on Thursday, January 13, 2004 after a courageous short battle with cancer. Upon his retirement in 1986, he moved to Wynnewood, PA to join in life's celebrations and sorrows with his children, grandchildren and their families and friends.
Born in Pittsburgh, PA on January 23, 1913 'Manny' was preceded in death by his parents, Fannie and Henry Stein, his brother, Bernard and his grandson, Colin Brett Orodenker.
Manny graduated from the Illinois College of Podiatry and Surgery in 1938 and he was the first podiatrist appointed to Montefiore Hospital's surgical staff in Pittsburgh, PA. He was a past president of Keystone Podiatry Association of Pennsylvania. He was a member of the R.W. Grand Lodge of Free and Accepted Masons of Pennsylvania. For many years Manny gave his time and his spirit, while engaging in volunteer work at Lankenau Hospital in Wynnewood. Manny an avid gardener, a joke teller, and a meticulous, dapper dresser, touched many lives. His favorite pastime was eating several hot dogs per game as he enjoyed watching the Reading Phillies, the baseball team owned by his son, Craig Stein, play ball.
Those who remain to cherish fond memories are his daughter, Hedy Stein Orodenker and her husband Jerry of Feasterville, PA, his son Craig Stein of Blue Bell, PA, his grandchildren, Jamie and Ian Kornbluth of Pennington, NJ, and his granddaughters Julie Stein and Elizabeth Stein of Manhattan. He is also remembered by his niece and nephew Ruth and Ernie Halle of Pittsburgh, PA and niece and nephew Sharon and Daniel Stein of Pittsburgh, PA and their children, as well as family and friends.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend his Graveside Services Sun. Jan. 16, 2005, 11 A.M. precisely at Roosevelt Memorial Park (Section M-2), Trevose, PA. Shiva will be observed at the home of Hedy and Jerry Orodenker.
