ELSIE LEBERSTIEN

ELSIE LEBERSTIEN (nee Silverman) died on April 1, 2022 at the age of 99. She was the daughter of the late Zigmund and Netta Silverman, and the sister of the late Samuel, Solomon and Robert Silverman. She was the wife of the late Herman Leberstien and the late Melvin Sachs, and a loving companion to the late Sid Graeser and the late Al Gerson. She is the mother of the late Nina Nemeroff (Michael), and is survived by her son Steve Leberstien (Sandy Saull), grandchildren Evan Leberstien (Heather), Lou Leberstien (Rachael), Allyson Nemeroff O'Donnell (John) and Jamie Nemeroff Carver (David), and great-grandchildren Kaitlyn and Luke Leberstien, Hayden, Eli and Bryce O'Donnell, and Samantha and Carter Carver. She is also survived by her sister-in-law Doris Leberstien and nephew Jay Leberstien (Sharon Luker).
Elsie graduated from Temple University and was a Registered Pharmacist. She tutored her husband Herman, her brother-in-law Bernie, and many of their friends, helping them to complete pharmacy school. With her husband, she ran Castor Pharmacy and Wissinoming Pharmacy for over 40 years. She was an active member of Temple Menorah in Mayfair for many years. She participated in the Sisterhood, receiving an award for her service as President. She was recognized by the Jewish Theological Seminary with a Community Service Award. She was also active in many clubs at the JCC, now known as KleinLife in the Northeast. While living at Paul's Run, she was a member of the Actor's group, the Yiddish Club and the Book Club.
She was a Woman of Valor and will be sorely missed by those who remain.
Relatives and friends are invited to funeral services on Monday April 4th, 2022 at GOLDSTEINS' ROSENBERG'S RAPHAEL-SACKS, 6410 N. Broad St., at 11:00AM precisely. Interment to follow at Mt. Lebanon (Sec. 12). Shiva will be held at the home of Steven Leberstien, from 5-8pm on Monday and Tuesday with services at 7pm.
