Ellis David Hochberg

Ellis David Hochberg passed away on April 5, 2023. Beloved and devoted husband of almost 62 years to Deborah Hochberg (née Kurgan), devoted father to Brian, Deena and Heather Hochberg, devoted grandfather to Aaron and Sarah Hochberg. David was a graduate from Drexel University with a Master’s Degree in Science. He worked for Betz Laboratories for almost 40 years.  Beginning his career in the laboratories, he became a member of the Emergency Response Team, eventually becoming Director of Safety at the Trevose facility.

David was a former President of the Kiwanis Club, and loved helping out on Southampton Days and the many Kiwanis events throughout the years. He also served on the Upper Southampton Planning Commission, volunteered with the American Red Cross,

He loved to sit on his back patio reading and doing crossword puzzles. Among the special times in his life were traveling with Deborah to Asia, Europe, Alaska, Hawaii; whenever Deborah took a Girls Trip, David & the kids had their own Great Adventure weekends, including renting the worst VHS movie they could find (sometimes finding a hidden gem); playing in the back yard with his children; listening to his records in the living room while Heather would crawl up by his side on the couch and they’d fall asleep with his arms around her; helping Deena practice her pitching in the backyard and going to all of her ball games; having a catch or watching a WWII movie with Brian; getting to spend Friday nights with Aaron & Sarah, watching them grow up was a huge joy in his life; every summer was traveling to Maine for two weeks with Judi and Morry Braunston; being a surrogate brother to his sister-in-law Barbara Bentman and surrogate father to Debbi Kalstein was very important to him.

Relatives and friends are invited to graveside services Monday, April 10th, 1 pm, at Shalom Memorial Park (use the Pine Street Entrance), Huntington Valley, PA, and follow the signage. (Casual attire is welcome.)

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in memory of E. David Hochberg to the Susan G. Komen Foundation (http://www.komen.org)
