Ellen Brown on September 26, 2026. Daughter of the late Leonard and Paula Brown and sister of Robert (Susan) Brown.

Ellen was an elementary school music teacher. She loved the music and the children. She tolerated the politics of public education with patience and a wonderful sense of humor. After retiring, she continued teaching, giving piano lessons to both children and adults (many of her students were parent and child combinations). In addition to her skill as a pianist and violinist, Ellen had a beautiful singing voice. She was a member of the Tanglewood Festival chorus for several seasons, performing in concerts with the Boston Pops and the Boston Symphony Orchestra. Ellen was a dog lover. She rescued a number of greyhounds along with a beagle named Atticus. Her last greyhound, Cara, has found a loving home. Ellen loved old movies and musicals and had an encyclopedic recollection of trivia from both. References to lines from Fred Astaire movies often found their way into conversations with Ellen. Her final job was as care giver and tender companion to her mother.
