SERINSKY
ELEANORE, 98, of Center City, on September 17, 2013, peace-fully surrounded by her family. Adored wife of the late Michael Serinsky. Beloved mother of Jill Saperstein (Dr. Lewis), Marc Serinsky, Larry Serinsky (Jean). Grandmother of Karen Estrin (Noah), Adam Rappaport (Debbie), Dan Saperstein (Daphne Limmer), Dr. Todd Serinsky (Laura), Liane Safier (Simcha), Benji Serinsky, Sam Serinsky. Great grandmother of 11. She is also predeceased by sister, Sylvia Palew and brother, Eugene Springer.
As one of the first Library Supervisors of the Philadelphia Public Schools, Eleanore pioneered the development of libraries in public schools. She was a strong woman with a zest for life that was expressed in many causes, interests, and talents. Eleanore fought for the rights of others throughout her long life. She was a prize winning weaver. Eleanore loved classical music. She and Michael held a subscription to the Philadelphia Orchestra concerts for 72 years. She was an avid theater goer and supported the visual arts. With Michael, she traveled the world with gusto. Eleanore will be forever missed by all those she has left behind. Services will be Wednesday, 1 P.M. precisely, at Shalom Memorial Park, 101 Byberry Rd., Huntingdon Valley PA. Contributions may be made to Philadelphia Orchestra, 1 S. Broad St., Phila.
