Elaine Schlessberg, (nee Sandhaus) sadly passed away Tuesday, December 12th at the age of 97. She lived a joyous, loving life filled with family, friends, intellectual curiosity, learning, and music. Everyone who met Elaine wanted to be part of her world that was filled with her warmth and smile.

Born in Queens, New York to Samuel and Lillian Sandhaus, after getting married she moved to Hewlett Bay Park on Long Island where she raised her 3 children. After her children were grown she and Bob moved to New York City and then spent many years in Boca Raton, Florida.

Elaine was a lifelong learner and took courses at her synagogues, local universities, and attended special speaking engagements until the end. After raising her kids she went back to school to finish her Bachelors Degree and continued on to receive a Masters too. In her 60s she became a Bat Mitzvah and always found time to volunteer.

She was predeceased by her husbands, H. Robert Cohen then Norman Schlessberg. She is survived by her children, Renee (Steven) Rosenau, Marilyn Schwartz, and Roy Cohen. She is survived by her grandchildren Jolee (Seth) Klugherz, Melissa (Tim) Sherman, Brett (Ana) Rosenau, Ilana (Michael) Reyes, Catherine (Daniel) Markowitz, and Ethan (Rachel) Cohen. Elaine also got to know her many great grandchildren, Rayna and Dara Klugherz, Rachel Sherman, Bailey and Claire Rosenau, Graham and Bennett Reyes, Lucy and Eleanor Markowitz, Levi Cohen, and Cecilia Toledo.

Relatives and friends are invited to her Funeral Service Sunday, December 17th at 9:30 A.M. precisely at Goldstein’s Rosenbergs' Raphael Sacks Southampton Chapel, 310 2nd Street Pike, Southampton, PA 18966 Interment Private.

Contributions in her memory may be made to Hadassah or a charity of your choice.
