Elaine "Toby" Parelman

Elaine Parelman, 84, affectionately known to her family as Toby, passed away in the early evening of May 7th. Elaine will be laid to rest in a graveside service at Roosevelt Memorial Park (sec. B) at 1:00PM on Wednesday, May 11th, 2701 Old Lincoln Hwy, Trevose, PA 19053. Elaine was born in Philadelphia and graduated from Germantown High School. She attended Temple University, earning a Bachelor of Science in Education, and as a teacher, made an impact in the lives of children in Philadelphia and Bucks County. In addition to her teaching, Elaine dedicated many years in the service of Philadelphia’s Jewish community through her work with Hadassah. She is pre-deceased by her husband Sidney and is survived by her brother David and sister-in-law Elinor, her son Seth and daughter-in law Teresa, her daughter Nicole and son-in-law Jason, and her grandchildren Michaela and Gabriel.

Elaine loved gardening and was a fierce devotee to art of all kinds. She instilled her appreciation of art and beauty in her children and grandchildren. She was also an example of strength in the face of adversity, having survived both skin and breast cancer.

In lieu of flowers, the family encourages donations in Elaine’s memory to Hadassah or The American Cancer Society.
