Elaine H. Keyser

Elaine H. Keyser (nee Silver) passed away peacefully on Sunday, April 21. Her family spent last Sunday with her celebrating her 94th birthday. Born in Philadelphia to the late Joseph Jack Silver and May (nee Cohen). She met the love of her life, the late Dr. Herbert L. Keyser and married in 1955. She was the devoted mother of Suzanne Snyder (Stewart), Janet Stanley (Tim), and Marsha Kominsky (Lyle). Devoted sister of Vivian Ronkin and the late Kenneth Silver.

A loving Sister-in-law to Joan Keyser. She was the proud “Mom Mom” of Hugh and Annabelle Kominsky and Hannah Melissa  Stanley.  Also survived by her nieces and nephews, Lois and Michael Silver, Alan and Danny Ronkin.

 

She was a trained singer and pianist and loved to perform from a young age. She studied music at the Settlement Music School. After she retired from the Philadelphia School District she played piano and sang in various nursing homes to perform for elderly residents. She sang Yiddish songs and performed in the Philadelphia area with the Workman Circle Choir.

 

She was an active lifetime member of Temple Menorah Keneseth Chai and held various leadership positions. She became a Bat Mitzvah at the young age of 70. She lived in Bakers Bay Condominium where she loved to swim with her grandchildren and do yoga classes. She wrote for the Beacon Newsletter as the health contributor. She was involved with Klein Life Senior Center for over 20 years later in her life.

 


In lieu of flowers, contributions in Elaine’s memory, may be made to Temple Menorah Keneseth Chai. May her memory be a blessing to all who knew and loved her.
